Constantly thinking about how Hypergryff had to nerf Nearl’s huge girlbulge on her summer skin before it was released.

About the skin [Nearl] - “Shimmering Dew Series SD01” before the online modification instructions.

Thank you for your attention and support to “Arknights”. During the final adjustments before the event went live, we made changes to the battle effects and infrastructure sprites of the previously advertised skin [Nearl] - “Shimmering Dew Series SD01”. After the modification, some of the skin effects and movements differ from the previously advertised content. We are sorry for the inconvenience and confusion caused by this modification.

yes archive and pirate everything but the fact that a team of passionate artists can put years of hard work into something only for it to just be removed without a shred of respect for the people that made it is just soul crushing. its one aspect of the industry that piracy just cannot fix.

Before Barbenheimer, there was “Apocalypse in Pink,” the August 1983 theme of fashion/culture magazine SPECTAGORIA. The issue’s controversial imagery of Barbie-esque models attempting to stay gorgeous and glamorous amidst nuclear annihilation sought to, in the words of editor/photographer Sera Clairmont, “revel in the morbid absurdity of the new American condition,” an “anxiety vibrating underneath all our plastic smiles.”

“It’s The Hot Pink Cold War,” Clairmont wrote in her introduction. “It’s ‘Material Girl’ on the radio and ‘WarGames’ at the drive-in. It’s ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ interrupted by the emergency broadcast signal. We’re told to look sexy, dress fashionable, make money, and spend money, but be sure we’re just the right amount of terrified about the bomb. Get that Malibu dream home, keep working on that perfect body, sip cocktails by the pool in your little pink bikini and watching the stocks go up — but STAY VIGILANT! and for God’s sake vote Republican, because that dream home could melt into a pink plastic inferno at any given moment. Just don’t stop smiling as the blast liquefies your skin into bubbling ooze like a Barbie doll in a microwave - it’s bad for the economy.”

Something that makes Aoko really fascinating in Mahoyo is that she’s as weirdly specific as Ryougi Shiki but in the completely opposite way.

Shiki was weirdly specific in that she was a very obvious mishmash of traits that Nasu thought would make for the coolest character possible. She wears a jacket over a kimono to show how her fashion sense fuses eastern and western looks. She has a magical prosthetic arm. Her eyes can see the death of all existence and are the biggest of deals and most special and rarest of magical eyes in the universe. She’s so good at martial arts she can defeat a demon without even using her powers. She fights with a knife even if she’s much better with a sword just because she prefers knives. She was once both male and female which allowed her to learn and master twice the number of skills. She is Literally God. Her boyfriend and eventual husband is a chick magnet that can’t stop girls from falling for him. She is Literally God. And a ninja. And a cyborg. With special eyes.

Aoko in Mahoyo on the other hand, is incredibly specific in ways so mundane you almost have to wonder if she was based on an actual person. She’s the student council president of her highschool. She’s canonically very pretty, but has shot enough boys down that they warn off new students from pursuing her because they’re convinced she’s probably gay. She claims to hate food she’s never even tried. She’s the type to simply boss someone around from an open window rather than leave her room to help them. She grumbles while carrying out her responsibilities and commitments, but not in a way that makes one think she regrets taking them on, she just likes to complain. She lets the phone ring on and on hoping the person on the line moves on, but if it rings long enough she automatically assumes it’s someone who knows it’s just her and Alice inside the house and will bother her until she picks up. She talks to herself / the universe out loud as if by saying she wishes to sleep for two hours, she will get to sleep for two hours. She settles school arguments by telling people to meet her behind the school after class. She has previously gone weeks without dinner out of laziness to cook enough for two. Her ideal man is specifically Arnold Schwarzenegger.

You really have to wonder who were Aoko’s biggest inspirations.

Love the implication that Nasu based the heroine of his first novel (and later, visual novel) on himself then made her a pretty, popular student council president who lives in a mansion with a witch and has unrivaled magical power and is repeatedly terrorized by her older sister

This sadly isn’t real, I know because I have been chasing this man up the west coast with a shotgun for the past 3 years and I will be the one to kill that bastard
